So about two weeks ago we were up north on Mackinac Island for Sarah’s (Leanne’s sister) wedding. Mackinac was gorgeous by the way. New pictrues coming soon.
Anyways, Sarah got Emme some presents for being such a good girl and participating in the wedding. Which she really was. Emme behaved wonderfully all day. Did everything we asked and didn’t run away or cry or whine all that much.
So one of the things that Emme got was a tea set. It has the wonderful color changing feature. Which we don’t use cause it requires water, and Emme gas a tendency to spill liquids. But as long as she doesn’t know about that feature and plays with it as she does we’ll be fine.

So as instantly as she saw it she runs over to it and is playing away. Serving up some tea and cream for everyone. Especially her Cinderella doll. Saying “here you go Cinderella.” It was really quite adorable.

That is what i have decided that the last couple of weeks of discoveries have been. Emmerson just blows my mind with what she comes up with and learns. I think that it is incredible that she calls her dad “daddy” but also Mike and Michael and understands that all three names refer to the same person. crazy. I am also stunned by how quickly she picks up on things and how she learns things. Its like she observe the world around her and then suddenly applies it all. Like the alphabet, we have been watching her favorite Elmo alphabet video DVD since Christmas and she has some recognition that “E” is for Emmerson, “D” is for Daddy and “S” is for Sarah. Well the video DVD has had a break for a week or two and she got new letter toys to play with in the bathtub, first thing she does, grabs the letter “U” and makes it dance like in the video DVD, then grabs the “T” and tells me that it is “turning” because “T” is for Turning and when she holds up the letter “A” I thought it would be good to teach her about “A” and when I asked if she knew what “A” was for she rolls her eyes and says apple. She is just amazing. So officially at 18 months she knows her colors, a quarter or so of the alphabet, working on shapes and numbers and can conjugate verbs with -ing. she blows my mind. Hope you enjoy the pics.

I know its been 2 weeks since the last post, and to all those of you who are still a bit worried about Emme, there’s no need to worry, She’s doing fine.
She’s most certainly getting back to her normal self. She’s starting to run around again, she’s starting to smile, and giggle and laugh… we had a weird bit of time there when she wasn’t eating anything. She would drink “Juice” which was 3/4 pedialyte and 1/4 apple juice. For a minuter there I even had the idea to put her back on formula just so that she would get something in her system.
She’s started playing, and trying to help mom and dad with everything again. She’s gotten back to being very possessive and protective of things. She’s started talking back again. You know all the fun things that a 17 month old should do.

We’ve just been letting her chill and be at home, and now that she’s getting back to normal, things are going much better. She still has a bit of a cough, and yesterday was coughing so hard that at dinner she threw up, but after that it was insane how crazy better she was.
She had a bit of a rough night. Okay really it was a pretty bad night. Leanne brought her into our room where she proceeded to kick, maul, beat and attack both Leanne, and I, unfortunately more Leanne than me.
So because of last night, this morning was just frazzled and hasty and we were all lucky to get out the door somewhere close to on time.
Hopefully the rest of the week goes smoother.

So all week Emme has been rather sick. She’s had a really bad flu, cold, cough kinda thing that just didn’t seem to want to go away, or get better in any way. She seemed like she was getting better, but then Friday morning at 4:30 am, woke up vomiting.
We both, mainly Leanne tried to get her to spit everything out instead of swallowing it back down but for a 16 month old the whole idea of vomiting is just a foreign concept. The don’t really like any of it. But then again who really does.
Leanne finally got Emme to turn onto her side to spit everything out. This was how they spent most of the day. I went into work to try and get some things done. I wasn’t very productive at all. I got a few ads sent of to the LSJ and was able to take care of a few things for the season brochure, but that was about it.
I got a call from Leanne about 11:30 that she had called the doctor and they called a prescription into the pharmacy and she wanted me to go and pick it up. So when I picked it up and I’m getting in the car to come home Leanne calls and asked me to grab some jello cups for Emme to see of she would eat anything. So as I’m geting ready to get the jello cups and check out she calls me again and says that Emme’s vomit isn’t clear any more, but brown (sorry about the visual). At that point we both decided it was time to take her to the ER.

So for Valentines day, there must always be the ubiquitous and obligatory box of chocolates. I didn’t get one for Leanne, but Ned got one for all the “Olsen” women.
One of the things that I find just. absolutely hilarious is how Leanne eats these, well any box of chocolates really, is that she (as the picture clearly shows) is picks ones that she thinks look like they might be good and bites into them half-way. If its good them she eats the other half. If its not good… well you can see, she leaves it for whoever wants that kind of chocolate.
She see’s as “hey, I’m doing everyone a favor. This way they can see what’s in the chocolate.”
I just find it funny.

So folks, as most of you know, I’ve started doing some freelance work. Some of it has really been touch and go, while some of it has been great.
One of the big things that I just can’t seem to figure out on my own is the whole issue with taxes for the whole freelance, bringing in extra money thing.
So this is my official “cry of help” to my friends out there. Does anybody know anything about this, or know somebody who does?
Let me know, thanks.

There’s been a lot of craziness this week. Emme’s had issues with her ear all week. We got these really funky drops from the doctor to help get out a crap load of ear wax she had building up in her right ear. It was pushing out the tube that they had put in to keep her from getting ear infections but the wax was making it come out. The drops were a wierd combination of an antibiotic and a steroid that will break up the wax and make her ear better, but it was wierd giving it to her cause we had to wait until she was asleep. Mad props to leanne on that one.
There was also some crazy job stuff going on. For reasons like those discussed on dooce.com I won’t get into all the details. There were just some possibilites and some big hopes on our end, and a lot of what ifs that got answered and then made things very confusing.
If i had the chance to talk to you at all this week then you know almost the whole situation. If not then feel free to drop me a line. If you don’t care then… why are you reading this?
Anyways…
Other than that life at the Davis house continues on.

Posting this from the apple store. On one of the iPhones, hoping that I had enough money to buy one.

So folks, as you know, I had a bit of an issue with my Work hard drive that had all of my projects on it. For some reason something went crazy with the disk and it stopped working. I don’t know why, but it did.
And to make matters worse I was stupid and hadn’t set up a back up on my machine yet, so I lost everything I had worked on in the previous year. It was horrible, I wanted to cry. Hell I wanted to go punch somebody in the face.
Anyways…
So after that happened I was determined to find a way to make a backup of stuff on my work machine. I’m also trying to find a way to do it for my home machine as well.
We had recently picked up a copy of 10.5 and I hadn’t installed it yet cause of an issue with how our web servers are accessed. Heck thats a whole other cluster**** of a situation. But I decided I would just upgrade to 10.5 and screw myself on the whole web server thing. Upon installing it I instantly set up time machine.
Boy has it come in handy. I was able to find a file that I didn’t realize I has saved over, and one that I had accidentally deleted.
Would I tell all of you to go out and get 10.5 and set up time machine? HELLS YEAH! Especially if you have stuff that you can’t afford to lose.
Our student intern just lost everything and could have been saved if she used her time machine backup. She hadn’t set it up yet.
What’s awesome about it is that it just does it in the background right while you’re working. So again, If you have a Mac, get 10.5, set up time machine, you never know when you’ll need it.
